Introduction: Both GH and IGF1 have important effects on the heart mass and contractility and deficiency of either hormone is associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. GH/IGF1 axis abnormalities (mostly primary or secondary IGF1-D) are frequent in adult patients with β-thalassemia major (β-Thal).
